The brunch collective, Breakfast with Charles are on a mission to reinvent brunch. Rather than a post gym refuel of smoothies and eggs or a hazy hungover bacon roll they want to make the brunch the main affair, a long, lazy all-day event (briner anyone?), where you roll out of bed and spend the day eating, drinking and setting the world to rights with your friends.
This weekend they are heading to The Pillbox Kitchen in Bethnal Green for a two day pop-up showcasing the best of their brunch dishes from the past year. So to start expect to find Powter’s Newmarket sausage and caramelised apple and Turkish Eggs. The main event will include the likes of Eggs Chesapeake, with chunky mango chutney, girolles on toast with spinach aioli and a deep fried duck egg yolk and Dorset crab on toast with globe artichoke and confit fennel. Rounding off the brunch will be Brioche doughnuts, mascarpone sorbet and marsala.
So cancel your plans this weekend, clear the diary and make room for a day of eating – it’s what the weekends are all about!
