It was meant to be a simple journey home from Barcelona on a Sunday night, an hour and a half flight, nice and easy yet somehow delay after delay after delay meant it took 10 hours. 10 hours. Not the end I wanted to my holiday, but one thing kept me going, knowing that I had booked into Spa to You at the Hilton Park Lane the next night.
And boy did I need that massage. The spa is located on the lower ground floor of the hotel and offers an extensive range of treatments, massages and services (waxing, threading etc) from around the world, take a look at the menu and you'l find it hard to choose. I was booked for the 80 minute Crushed Cabernet Ritual Caudalie body massage, which is meant to detoxify, tone and slim (and seeing as my insides had turned to sangria over the weekend) that is exactly what I needed.
Unlike the usual bright whites and fresh tones you expect to find in a spa, the walls were dark grey with black, beige and olive hues throughout, it was strangely soporific and oh so relaxing, it would have been more so had someone else outside the spa not been playing their own music so loudly that you could hear it over the spa’s soundtrack… normally I’m all for Ed Sheeran but you know there is a time and a place.
The staff were attentive, immediately offering me tea and water and showing me to the relaxation area, everything was clean and beautifully presented apart from the bathrooms which were strewn with paper towels and didn’t have any loo roll, that aside it couldn’t be faulted.
The treatment however was wonderful, after a mini relaxing massage and being exfoliated head to toe with a Caudalie vinotherapy scrub (known for its anti-aging properties and benefits to the skin) I had a 50 minute signature sculpting massage. If you can handle it then ask the pressure to be strong and adopt the ‘no pain, no gain’ stance it will be worth it when your shoulders feel a hundred times lighter and you swish out of the spa renewed and ready to take on London.
