For those of you not in the know yet, barrecore is a low-impact, full-body interval training programme which boasts fans like Eva Herzigova, Suki Waterhouse and Zara Martin. You may not move from your yoga mat but that doesn’t mean you are in for an easy ride. The Handbook decided to head down to check out a class – if it’s good enough for a supermodel, it’s good enough for us!
The movements used are inspired by ballet, yoga and pilates, participants use their own bodyweight as resistance with high repetition exercises to work the muscles to capacity for a full-body, fat-burning interval-training program – when you think your muscles have had enough and are burning to the max you will hear the unwanted cry of ‘10 more’ from your teacher. The classes are followed by welcome static stretches which help to build a lean, toned physique – that’s the idea anyway.
Barrecore currently has studios in Mayfair, Chelsea and Wimbledon, and have now branched out to Chiswick where their latest venue holds two studio rooms, a personal training room with Reformer Pilates equipment, as well as showers and changing facilities.
