Hanging out in car parks has officially become cool. No, don’t worry here at The Handbook we have not gone crazy. Nor have we swapped our grown up city life for a slightly depressing teenage one. Yes, gone are the days of seedy car park drinking, thanks to Background Bars who have come out of hibernation to transform a 10,000 sq/ft car park into this winter’s hottest hangout: Night Tales.
Based in Shoreditch, every Friday and Saturday you will be treated to an evening of revelry underneath a stretch canopy surrounded by wood fires, private serviced chalets and deliciously indulgent grub. A whole host of gastronomical delights will be on offer to enjoy from the comfort food at Patty&Bun served from a 1987 Grumman Olson Kurbmaster (basically a vintage glorified food truck) to wood-fired pizza from Voodoo Rays and jazzed up cheese toasties from Monty and Bobs. And if it is a touch of summer you need (yes, we are already pining for it) then make sure to try out the food in the Rum Kitchen’s Caribbean beach shack.
The food will not be only thing on a menu, with a whole host of live music and weekly DJ sets being specially prepared so that you can dance the night away on the raised platform underneath a stretch canopy. The opening weekend will see the none other than Late Night Tales and Black Butter making an appearance, setting off this seven week pop-up with bang. Make sure you take any music suggestions to Patty&Buns hatch where the resident DJ will be stationed, and order a delicious cocktail whilst you are there.
Forget rooftops, this winter it is all about car parks.
Night Tales opens on 7th November.
