The Handbook
The Handbook

On the never ending quest to find something to party about, when the events run dry over here we are happy to look further afield and across the pond, to borrow Thanksgiving from our US neighbours. With delicious food, autumnal decorations and a perfect excuse to have everything pumpkin flavoured, Thanksgiving on the 27th November is the perfect warm-up before the main event of Christmas. We have created our guide of the best Thanksgiving events happening in London.

Sports Bar & Grill’s Festive Celebrations

Throw yourself into the full spirit of the US by watching live NFL games on the big screen whilst dining down on a traditional Thanksgiving menu featuring dishes like roasted free range turkey served with duck fat roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables, gravy and cranberry sauce followed by a choice of warm pecan or pumpkin pie – go team! From 5pm 27th November

Thanksgiving at The Gorgeous Kitchen

If you are heading over to the States to do thanksgiving in its native land or are just generally jet-setting (lucky you) then make sure to pop in to The Gorgeous Kitchen at the new Heathrow Queen’s Terminal, where they will be serving Thanksgiving specials including Eggnog and Pumpkin Pie alongside its usual menu.

Introducing The Pilgrim

Combining two great American imports, burgers and Thanksgiving, Soho burger joint BRGR.CO will launch the “Pilgrim” BRGR. Comprising of a turkey (what else?) burger, it will be topped with classics like cranberry ketchup, hash and buttered sprout leaves. Sides available are pigs on a stick and fries. Available 24th – 30th November

Celebrate Thanksgiving 100ft above London

Reward yourself for getting involved with the festive spirit with a Thanksgiving themed cocktail like the ‘Peanut Butter Cup’, where the American confectionary treat meets Jamaican rum shaken with bitter dark chocolate liqueur. Feeling a bit healthier? There will also be the ‘Pumpkin Pie’, a warm punch made with pumpkin puree, spiced rum, cinnamon and winter spiced syrup served alongside Babylon’s traditional Thanksgiving menu.

Bodean’s Thanksgiving Dinner

Bodean’s has been producing delicious BBQ food, American beers and live sports from across the pond since 2002 so they are well prepared for Thanksgiving. Guests can enjoy a 3 course feast of Ham and Turkey with all the trimmings at all branches throughout the day, perfect to start preparing your stomach for all the impending overeating at Christmas.

Trader Vic’s

Show your support to those celebrating Thanksgiving by downing a few festive themed cocktails at Trader Vic’s, where for one day only you can try ingenious creations like Pumpkin Pie Mojito; Jamaican dark rum with mint leaves, lime juice, sugarcane syrup and pumpkin puree topped with soda water. Soak up the alcohol with their bespoke Thanksgiving menu featuring dishes like butternut squash soup with goat cheese, and pumpkin pie with salted caramel ice cream.

Royal China’s Oriental Twist on Thanksgiving

Take Thanksgiving celebrations international by heading down to Royal China to enjoy their twist on the seasonal classics with Almond flavoured Pumpkin Soup with Crabmeat, Empress Chicken with Ginger and Spring Onion, and Apple in Toffee Syrup. No judgement if you order prawn crackers too, when in Rome…

Thanksgiving at 34

Americans aren’t known for their small portions so why not enjoy 34’s chef Harvey Ayliffe’s generous offerings of New England shellfish chowder, roast Norfolk Bronze turkey, cranberry stuffing, sweet potato gratin and buttered sprout tops. If you manage to make room then a lavish slice of caramel pumpkin pie and maple ice cream will be waiting for you – a good a reason as any to be thankful.

The Mount Street Deli salutes Thanksgiving

Make the most of in season pumpkin with home-baked pumpkin pies at The Mount Street Deli plus at lunchtime only time will be a succulent turkey ballotine, while soup of the day will be a crab chowder; and the salad (hear us out) will be a melange of roasted Brussels sprouts, spiced sweet potato, green beans, cranberries and a maple and pecan nut dressing.

Thanksgiving at CUT, 45 Park Lane

Head Chef Wolfgang Puck will be drawing on his Austro-American roots to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving Meal. Featuring classic dishes such as Roasted Pumpkin Soup with Cranberry-Quince compote, it will be hard not to find something to be thankful for this year. It wouldn’t be American if there was not something sweet to end your meal on and with desserts such as Spiced Pumpkin and Vanilla Gelato Baked Alaska, NYC won’t seem quite so far away.

A Vegetarian Thanksgiving at Goat

While turkey might be rife at this time of year, there’s no reason that the vegetarians among us should go without a festive feast so lucky you then that Goat, apart from a maple roasted turkey, will also be serving a vegetarian nut roast with classic sides like roasted Brussels sprouts with Cranberry brown butter and (optional) Sausage, fennel and pine nut stuffing. Other delicious dishes to note include authentic Southern style Cornbread, Bacon and sweetcorn chowder, and Bourbon and chocolate pecan pie.
