When you think about it, in the grand scheme of things £1 is not very much. Yes, every penny counts but nowadays what can you buy for a pound? No, not that morning coffee that makes your morning commute semi-bearable, nor your Uber ride, or even some of your favourite apps. And whilst every penny counts, sparing one probably isn’t going to cause a crisis. With this in mind, let us introduce you to StreetSmart, which has teamed up with top restaurants in London to raise money for the homeless.
Throughout November and December, some of our favourite restaurants such as River Café, Ottolengi, Coq d’Argent and Arbitus will be adding a voluntary £1 per table to diner’s bill with this money going directly towards over 100 homeless organisations. Last year, the event raised over £6.9 million helping homeless charities in the local area and this year is set to be no different. Supported by Deutsche Bank, StreetSmart can guarantee all of the money goes directly to the charities and organisations that help people who have lost their way get back onto the straight and narrow.
And with celebrity chefs such as Angela Hartnett, Ashley Palmer Watts, Jeremy Lee and Marcus Wareing pledging their support, this is such a simple and delicious way to make a difference. After all, as Wareing himself claims, “£1 on its own probably doesn’t make a lot of difference but a pound with many others can make a great difference.” And hey, you get to enjoy a scrummy meal whilst raising money for charity. Pretty win, win in our book.
StreetSmart will be occurring throughout November and December.

Florence was once kicked out of ballet for being a little too over-enthusiastic. She's just landed in London, and whilst she is not going to be the winner of Strictly Come Dancing anytime soon, she can still be found tapping her Chelsea boots all over the capital.
