Jenius Social over in Islington are all about being sociable and preparing and eating great dishes – as they say creating connections through food. And how better to do that than with a supper club? And when better to do that than during the bleak months of January and February? Exactly.

So it’s just your luck then that they have two such supper clubs coming up! First up on 23rd January is Chef Guan’s Malaysian Nyonya Pop-up.  As the name suggests it’s hosted by Chef Guan, the food writer behind ‘The Boy Who Ate the World’ and contestant from Channel 4’s ‘The Taste’.  It’s your chance to indulge in an 8 course Nyonya sharing menu. For those of you that don’t know Nyonya is a unique branch of Malaysian cuisine which combines Malay and Chinese food.  Dishes will include Assam prawns, Kari Kapitan – that’s Captain’s Chicken Curry and Tau Yew Bak (Braised Caramelised Pork Belly in Soy Sauce).

They’re also celebrating the Chinese New Year, which just to let you know is the year of the goat, with Mamma Wang’s Pop up supper club on the 19th February.  As well as watching a noodle pulling demonstration (not your average Thursday evening) you’ll be eating dishes such as Mama Wang’s New Year’s lamb and chive dumplings and Sichuan Mapo tofu with slow-braised beef shin.

Don’t become a hermit in these winter months – get out there!
