Here at The Handbook, we love a summer pop up. For us, they encompass everything that is British summertime – a big fun, quirky party, but one that is tragically fleeting and ends way before we want it to. The iconic late-night Soho venue Floridita is the latest London venue to offer a pop-up, inviting guests to get channel their inner Ariel and set sail with their new nautical summer pop up, Puerto Floridita.
Floridita’s ‘deck’ (expect many nautical puns) will allow its shipmates to sit back, relax and enjoy cooling cocktails or dance on deck to the backdrop of live Latin-American salsa, funk & soul. They’ve really gone to town with the theme here, as you’ll even be able to peep through portholes and see an abundance of brightly coloured tropical fish swimming past. It’s pretty much like going on a Caribbean cruise, without leaving London. Ok, it isn’t, but it definitely has the makings of a great night out.
Floridita has also crafted a range of signature cocktails for the occasion. These tantalising tipples will feature key South American ingredients, including the finest sparkling wine Chandon, the sexy Argentine younger sister to Moet & Chandon, including the Pina Spritz created from Chandon, garnished with a slice of fresh pineapple and served in an ice filled cabernet glass. Just in case you haven’t being filled up by the cocktails, Executive Chef Sascha Rieb will also be serving an extensive on-board bar snack menu. Small plates will include soft shell crab with chipotle ketchup, chilli squid rings and garlic and chilli king prawn cocotte…surely enough to fill your sea-faring appetite!
So if you’re looking for a fun and playful party palace, and have a fetish for all things crustacean, then Puerto Floridita is a must-visit on your life-long cruise of London’s best nightspots.
