West London gastropub, Paradise, has appointed Cat Ashton as its new Head Chef to mark the beginning of spring. Ashton was previously Head Chef at Petersham Nurseries, so you know the pub is in good hands. A new chef is not the restaurant’s only recent change, as they have recently debuted a newly refurbished dining room, with garden and front bar on the ground floor, alongside a first floor private dining room and conservatory. This makes it perfect for the hot summer nights, drinking away pretending that it isn’t only Wednesday and you don’t have to get up at 6 a.m. for work the next day.
Chef Ashton aims to bring contemporary European flavours to the fore and this is apparent from the delicious new seasonal menu options she is introducing. These include ‘stinging nettle and ricotta ravioli with Sicilian olive oil’, which we have been assured doesn’t actually sting, as well as ‘baby monkfish wrapped in prosciutto, pearl barley risotto with wild garlic & spinach’. Don’t fret, Ashton hasn’t failed to remember the most important part of any meal, with her excellent new desserts. On the menu will be ‘pressed chocolate cake with honeycomb and crème fraiche’ and ‘sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream’, so plenty of stuff to indulge in! Just make sure you’ve perfected your ‘oh I couldn’t possibly eat another thing, but if you’re offering dessert, I might as well…’ speech.
Paradise are offering all readers of The Handbook 2 courses from their Summer menu with a glass of Prosecco for £20. Runs May – August, Monday to Thursday 6:30pm – 10:30pm(doesn’t include steak)
