What: The classic afternoon tea has been given a fairy tale makeover

Why: Expect classic sandwiches and scones followed by a selection of magical pastries like Jack’s Beanstalk Tart, Little Red Riding Hood and an Earl Grey Macaron. Speaking of tea, have any type you’ve ever dreamed as the menu boasts a whole page of options black and white to green and oolong, or make it a little more interesting with some Champagne.

The OXO Tower’s ‘Not Afternoon Tea’

What: Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea filled with quirky nods to the book

Why: In a nod to the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s enchanted tale of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the OXO Tower Brasserie has teamed up with Macmillan to create a magical take on their renowned Not Afternoon Tea. The menu offers a welcome eat me drink me drink followed by a Not Afternoon Tea plate and cocktail, finished off with treats to take home plus there’s also a kids menu for little ones.

Why: Rain or shine the afternoon tea, served in a picnic basket in Amaranto and on Amaranto’s charming landscaped split level terrace, will be ready to go filled with vintage tins containing a range of sandwiches, cakes and scones designed with a British twist. The terrace has been designed to capture the changing seasons of the park-like setting beyond the hotel so you can enjoy your picnic without the threat of drizzle.

What: Afternoon tea aimed at the fellas

Why: In time with Father’s Day (21st June) 108 Pantry has created an afternoon tea aimed at men with an array of hearty treats, savoury and sweets including Grilled rib eye steak sandwich, Peanut butter and chocolate cupcake and Banoffee shot. The masculine twist on the class British pastime also comes served with a pint of Guinness or for those needing something a little stronger they can opt for a glass of authentic Irish whiskey.

The Dorchester Chelsea Flower Show Afternoon Tea

What: Flowers, afternoon tea and Champagne

Why: When two classic British favourites come together, good things happen. The Dorchester is celebrating The RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2015 with a themed afternoon tea complete with Laurent-Perrier Chatsworth Champagne. The hotel itself will be filled with floral displays while guests enjoy creative treats like a hand-crafted flower basket hazelnut sponge with praline chocolate cream and chocolate mousse soil, and a chocolate sweet tart beehive with a caramel lemon and honey cremeux.
