Balance Box Review

Summer is coming and we are officially in beach body preparation mode but even with the best intentions in mind, eating healthily can be hard with hidden calories and misjudged portion sizes ready to trip us up at the first hurdle. Never fear though as it doesn’t have to be all that complicated thanks to Balance Box – a food delivery service that delivers meals straight to your door be it at work or home.

You get breakfast, lunch and dinner with a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack thrown in; you can choose from either the Lighter Plan for those on diets at 1200 calories a day or the Market Menu plan which is an easier 1800 calories. The boxes are sent out in a large food cooler that arms you with 3 or 4 days’ worth of food, depending on your plans, and makes it feel like the Father of Christmas of food has just made a drop off. You are given a menu which tells you what to eat and when with a typical day containing options like roasted stone fruit granola, Lebanese falafel & cous cous salad and butternut risotto. Morning snacks are fresh fruit and nuts while the afternoon is a choice of Balance Box snack bar (Trail, Peanut or Berry although I personally found Trail a little dry).

Although the calories are low, the food is plentiful and I didn’t feel hungry once throughout the 4 days. I could see the creativity that had gone into the boxes with a variety of flavours being utilized, no bland salads or cardboard sandwiches in sight. It made me look forward to my meals which required the bare minimum of effort from my end making it feel like I had my own chef and nutritionist.
