Wander down Fulham Road (or get the bus because it’s ridiculously long) and you’ll find a whole host of bakeries: Gail’s, Paul (apparently names work well for a bakery) and Maison Blanc to name a few and soon there will be another addition to the bakery scene in the form of Halva bakery which opens this June.
Owned by Lila Sarhang Zadeh a classically trained pastry chef, the contemporary bakery will be the perfect place to get your carb fix whether it’s breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea.
You can grab a coffee and a pain au chocolate or if you’re being more adventurous then a banana pain. The apple turnovers are unlike any other apple turnovers you’ll have tried, forget a bit of limp apple mush, these guys have a whole apple at their heart, right from Covent Garden Market.
There is a whole host of bread which is made using ‘tradition flour’ and loaves include chia seeds, flax seeds and honey sour doughs, with flavours ranging from vanilla to basil – not just your typical sour dough/tiger bread kind of joint, now is it?
They’ll also serve macaroons, cakes, eclairs and scones which can be eaten inside or when the weather is hot, we’ve heard their outside space becomes a bit of a sun trap.
Cake for all, we say!
