‘Alice in Wonderland’ might have been written for children, but it has plenty of, umm, interesting, material that makes it just as enjoyable for adults…yes, we mean those psychedelic, trippy vibes and that mad hatter’s tea party.
To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s kooky masterpiece, The Montagu at Hyatt Regency London will be offering an authentic Mad Hatter experience. There won’t be any cats with Simon Cowell’s teeth, but there will be enough sweet treats to make you wish you were Alice, spending your days flitting between tea parties and eating lots of cake (oh wait, we do that anyway). For the fashionista crowd, the restaurant will be filled with more than 20 outstanding hats from bespoke milliner’s Lomax & Skinner, for them to fawn over.
Eating might not be the first thing you think of when you think fashion, but The Montagu (thankfully) never got that memo, as they’ll be supplying guests with a truly scrumptious Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea. This will be filled with plenty of ‘curiouser and curiouser’ treats to enjoy. Highlights include Mad Hatter’s vanilla and strawberry hats, Queen of Hearts jam tarts and Magical Mushroom marshmallows! If that list of wacky wonderland treats isn’t enough to satisfy your Carroll cravings, there will also be a selection of beverages to quench your thirst. These include a ‘Drink Me’ raspberry-elderflower sparkling tonic, ‘Mock Turtle’ cucumber-gazpacho soup and a wide selection of afternoon teas and a special ‘Drink Me’ ‘Eat Me’ cocktail.
As if you weren’t being spoiled enough with this massive selection of goodies, there’s also the small matter of once a week, one lucky guest finding a small golden key hidden in their tea set, indicating that they have won the chance to experience The Montagu’s Saturday New York Italian Style Brunch for two. While once a month, one lucky winner will have the chance to win an ‘Explore London’ overnight stay. We probably would have turned up for the food alone, but the chance of a freebie is definitely enough to guarantee our attendance.
The Montagu’s Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea will be available from 15th June to 8th September.
