Host to Kanye West, Gwyneth Paltrow and even Queen Elizabeth II, Quaglino’s has witnessed the brightest, hottest stars of the world since their opening in 1929. Founded by Giovanni Quaglino, the man created one of London’s hottest venues for every decade to modern day. The home of numerous scandals, Judy Garland’s final marriage celebrations, Princess Diana sneaking in through the kitchen, celebrities being made from the cigarette girls and stolen ash trays becoming trophies, Quaglino’s is once again visiting its 1920’s popularity through the creation of their Prohibition Afternoon Tea.
Given the opulent and rich Gatsby-esque interior and Quaglino’s height of popularity during the decade, it seems a natural move to offer guests a 1920’s themed afternoon tea. Forget sarnies, earl grey and Victoria sponge, embrace an experience as decadent as Jay’s party feasts. Expect smoked salmon rosti, cured ham grissini, mini chocolate marquise and buttermilk scones with strawberry reserve for a modern twist on a classic afternoon tea. Hidden liquor and award-winning cocktails will be accompanying the food or a Vanilla Black tea for those less inclined to entirely indulge in the roaring 20’s.
Running throughout summer, make your way to the heart of Mayfair to recreate the magic of the 1920’s at Quaglino’s.
Open at the Bar, Monday to Saturday 3 – 5 pm. £29.50 per person for The Prohibition Afternoon or £34.50 for the Prohibition Champagne Tea.
