By now you must know that 2015 marks the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland, if you didn’t you really need to get out and about in London/read more and whilst everyone always talks about Alice, the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter, sometimes the Queen of Hearts gets forgotten about. Yes ok she has anger issues and yes ok she is a bit of a threat to Alice, but she does love a good game of croquet – even if the balls are hedgehogs and the mallets are flamingos.
So to celebrate the anniversary, Chambord are hosting they’re own pop-up running from tomorrow until Sunday at the Hothouse Building’s new in –house bar and roof terrace, Proof. Go through the special door and enter a world that Lewis Carrol would be proud of, created by East London design team Benny and Tom, the terrace will feature a Chambord Bar serving up the Chapter Eight Cocktail with Chambord Black Raspberry liqueur and will go perfectly with the French-American burgers from Le Bun. And of course there will be flamingo croquet, don’t worry unlike the queen the flamingos aren’t actually real, that of course would be illegal. Practise your croquet technique and if it looks like you’re losing, then give your competition a sporting whack in the shins with the mallet – the Queen of Hearts would no doubt be proud.
