The smell of hot bread and pastries is probably one of the best there is, so we count neighbours of GAIL’s artisan bakeries as very lucky people. Luckier still, neighbours of their Hampstead store are this year invited to their annual Garden Party, now in it’s tenth year! We daren’t think about how many loaves we have consumed in that time…
The garden/street party began as GAIL’s way of saying thank you to their local community for supporting them – although we think it works both ways and a lot of people want to thank them for their morning kickstart or afternoon pick-me-up. A dedicated Shakshuka stall will be serving endless bowls of the tomatoey, eggy goodness and a sausage roll station does what it says on the tin – albeit with the best flaky pastry in the area. Kids will enjoy activities and face painting, whilst adults can benefit from the East London Liquor Company and Camden Brewery and even dogs are thought of, with natural treats from Lily’s Kitchen.
To top it all off, the Garden Party will be supporting Water Aid, so you can enjoy your day with the knowledge that you are not only helping your own community but a much wider one too. Happy neighbours? Mission accomplished if you ask us.
GAIL’s Bakery Garden Party takes place in the pedestrianised Oriel Place, just off Hampstead High Street, on Saturday 19 September from 11am to 5pm
