With Fashion Week descending on our city next week, Covent Garden’s brasserie, Balthazar, is launching its latest afternoon tea which has been curated by designer, Matthew Williamson. This is Williamson’s second tea that he has created for Balthazar and this year’s offering takes inspiration from his Autumn Winter 2015 Collection which is influenced by the twelve signs of the zodiac, birthstones and a rich jewel colour palette all reflecting the bohemian nature of the Brit girl.

Traditional smoked salmon and coronation chicken sandwiches will be followed by yuzu eclairs and macaroons filled with fresh blueberries, violet consommé jelly and white chocolate chantilly. Other cakes include gooseberry and yoghurt roulade, raspberry and hibiscus baba and almond and hazelnut rocher, all designed to mirror the mood of Williamson’s latest collection.

Of course there is a cocktail to go with it too, the Cosmic cocktail’ is made from Campari, Mandarine Napoleon, a sugar cube and topped with Champagne, because if nothing else all that running around between shows is thirsty work.

We might not all have Williamson’s latest collection in our wardrobe – but at least we can all eat it.

The Matthew Williamson Afternoon Tea will be served from Monday 14 September to Friday 5 February 2016 and is served from 3pm to 5pm
