It’s begun. Sorry to break the news but in case you missed it the first Christmas advert played on the radio a couple of days ago. The instantly recognisable sleigh bells enough to snap anyone out of their summer-is-over-daydream. Whilst we are all too aware that Harrods launch their Christmas shop in August, we are slightly more traditional when it comes to the festive build-up, preferring to wait, at least, until pumpkins carved/lit/rotting.

There is a reason for our eagerness; good things don’t hang around for long. The Gherkin is turning their iconic glass dome into a Snow Globe and opening their private members bar Searcys to the general public for only the second time this year, for a range of festive experiences. The Christmas-inspired afternoon tea offers macaroons, festive-finger sandwiches, homemade scones and Christmas pudding style sweet treats. A new festive cocktail menu features a warm hibiscus gin and Benedictine Christmas Tea, and a smoked raisin infused rum, Chartreause and cream Egg Nog has of course made the cut.

If you really want to see in the New Year in style then don your white tie and enjoy a five course fine dining experience before swapping the champagne ice cream for the real deal as you toast in 2016. Enjoy everyone else’s fireworks from one of the best viewing points in London.
