Supper clubs are usually a chance to branch out a bit from our usual haunts and step foot into a new postcode, meet new people and try food more experimental than permanent restaurants tend to allow. Ben Marks and Matt Emmerson of NOMA, The Square, Polpo and Polpetto respectively are sprinkling their magic touch (Michelin stars surround them) to a new location for London supper club Perilla, following on from the success of 6 previous sell-out events. Perilla takes the best bits from fine dining experiences and injects elements of supper-club informality and liveliness – fine dining without the fuss.
As much as restaurants are known for their clientele, supper clubs spend time ensuring they attract a certain type of diner. The Perilla diner will be one with an affinity for the finest ingredients, beautiful presentation and a civilised setting, all with an adventurous streak. Held at permanent pop-up restaurant Platform 1 in East Dulwich, Perilla’s four month residency will make fine dining accessible to those who seek it. Herbs and vegetables grown on site will flavour the unconventional menu; we recommend trying the highly praised Pot Roast Cauliflower with Goats Curd & Lardo; Poached Trout with Potato Broth & Radishes and, to finish, Poached Pears with Soft Herbs & Frozen Crème Fraîche. A wine bar with rare grape varieties will be complimented by botanical gin cocktails from Hawksmoor’s Adam McGurk. Seasonal, sustainable cooking at its very finest.
Perilla runs from 10th November at Platform 1, 71 Lordship Lane, East Dulwich, London, SE22 8EP
