There’s only so many ways we can describe festivities/Christmas pop-ups/winter markets whilst trying to grab your attention and make each event sound unique and, to be honest, worth fitting in to your increasingly packed December schedule. Today is the turn of Pop Brixton, who have jazzed up their shipping containers with artfully positioned fairy lights and the sweet sweet smell of mulled wine and cider.
In case you haven’t been, Pop Brixton opened back in May as part of a council-initiated project to bring the community together and give start-ups and independent businesses a chance. Throughout the summer the al fresco garden played host to long, relaxed evenings but they are now installing a roof to raise the temperature once again. The usual food traders will be in position plating up venison with roast squash, chorizo and sweet potato stew and goose vindaloo. Well, it is Brixton. Adding to the allure of this alternative Christmas market, local independent traders, vintage clothing and retro homeware will rid you of the boredom high-street Christmas shopping can induce. A bar and DJ completes the experience.
