2016 is the year of a very special anniversary, it’s the 110th birthday of a very British and very London institute, The Ritz. Of course birthdays need to be celebrated especially one as important as 110 years (if we ever get to that age then expect something BIG) and so they are celebrating right through the year, with four different packages for their guests at some of England’s top sporting and society events.

The packages start at the end of February with a private tour of the Earl and Countess of Carnavon’s home, Highclere Castle. If you’re not familiar with the castle then you must be familiar with Downton Abbey… well now is your chance to have a go at being Lady Mary as Highclere Castle is where it was filmed. Since The Ritz shares the same birthday as The Queen who will be celebrating her 90th birthday this year, guests of the hotel in May will be present at the black tie celebrations at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Come the summer The Ritz will be taking their guests to Royal Ascot Ladies Day in June where guests will have a three-course gastronomic  lunch and will have an exclusive view of the race from the Rosebery, a beautifully restored 1966 Routemaster bus. Finishing in July the final package will be a see a small group head to Wimbledon where they will be able to enjoy a sky-view elevated above the crowds, the best seats in the house for the Ladies Quarter Finals action on centre court.

As far as birthdays go it definitely beats our standard of drinks at the pub and crying over how old we’re getting….
