With the dawn of spring, it makes the anticipation of summer all too great. Long, warm evenings, picnics, outdoor festivals and live screenings…

Here at The Handbook, we have the perfect event for you to look forward to, and we do mean really forward – it’s in July. Back by popular demand, Backyard Cinema is returning to W1 to screen Shakespeare’s world-famous, Romeo and Juliet complete with sofas, deckchairs, popcorn, ice cream and a fully licensed bar. Marking the film’s 20th anniversary, Baz Luhrmann’s avant-garde interpretation of Shakespeare’s tragic romance set in a modern Verona is certain to bring tears to a glass eye.

Screened in the atmospheric setting of St Mary’s Church beneath stained glass windows and accompanied by the angelic voices of ‘Some Voices’ choir, the screenings promise to bring the greatest love story ever told to life with live performances of songs from the movie’s soundtrack. A young Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo and Claire Danes as Juliet? Yes please. Bring along your mates, dates and a box of tissues for the ultimate movie experience but be sure to book ahead – the March and June events have already sold out so July it is…
