1926 was an eventful year. A quick search will tell you that it was the year Winnie The Pooh was first published, the year the television was first demonstrated to the public and the year the great illusionist Harry Houdini sadly passed away. For a vast majority of people, these events happened long before we were born, but HRH Queen Elizabeth is not one of those people.
90 years ago this year, the Royal Family were blessed with Queen Elizabeth II and the nation are coming together to celebrate in a variety of typically British ways… and The Goring hotel is no exception. In celebration of Her Majesty’s birthday, The Goring will be hosting a special afternoon tea, with pastries being created by their award-winning pastry chefs exclusively for the occasion, from April through to July. Golden Orbs filled with passion fruit filling, Royal Opera cake with pistachio sponge and chocolate ganache and, of course, coronation chicken sandwiches are just a few of the patriotic items on the menu and with 106 years of practice under their belt you can rest assured you’re in for an absolute treat.
Still need convincing? The Goring is the only hotel to be granted with a Royal Warrant from The Queen herself as well as hosting Kate Middleton’s bridal party prior to the royal wedding. As far as royal seal of approval goes you’ll struggle to find anything more authentic!
So head to the Royals’ favourite hotel, tuck into some of Queen Elizabeth’s favourite Fruit Cake, and raise a cup of tea as we wish a very happy 90th to Her Majesty.
