Sandy feet, sunkissed skin and fish so fresh it’s practically still swimming may be more Amalfi Coast than North London but, come the 19th May, you can be a little bit closer to your Mediterranean fantasies when The House of Peroni returns for a six-week residency, with the theme “Amare l’Italia” (for the love of Italy).
The pop-up has three key players, who each have Italian style in their blood. Fashion royalty Margherita Maccapani Missoni is using her impeccable taste to create the overall look of the space, which this year is inspired by big family gatherings, fragrant native flowers and Italian philosopher of art, Lucio Fontana. Food-wise, Patron Chef of Savile Row’s Sartoria (which we reviewed recently) has created a menu of cicchetti (small plates), homemade gelato and an Italian brunch served at the weekend, with an Italian feast for guests in the private dining area. As well as such authentic cooking, prepared with authentic hands, a deli area means you can take a piece of Italy home with you and various immersive events like pasta making and mixology masterclasses will teach you very important life skills (everyone needs to know how to make the perfect Negroni). Finally, as the name suggests, Peroni will be served in abundance, with cocktails from award-winning Mixology Master, Simone Caporale. Playful cocktails including the Citta della Seta (fig liquor, chinotto and bergamot) sit alongside Italian classics – no self-respecting Italian pop-up would be complete without Aperol Spitz or Negroni on the menu.
The House of Peroni runs Thursday 19th May – Friday 1st July at Proud East, 2-10 Hertford Road, Haggerston, N1 5SH
