Top Gun, Karaoke and Volleyball in Hoxton

Volleyball? Check. Karaoke machine? Check. Themed cocktails? Triple check. No, this isn’t the checklist for a boozy holiday in Portugal, it’s actually the checklist for Experience Cinema (the people behind Rooftop Film Club and Underground Film Club) who are going all out to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Top Gun. Whilst most of us don’t remember the film actually coming out, it’s a cult classic that you can’t escape and even if you haven’t seen the film (some of us are very guilty of this) you still find yourself singing along ‘highway to the danger zone’ if your Uber driver’s radio station of choice favours eighties soundtracks.

As well as the screening of the film, guests can show of their ball skills on the volleyball court, sing their heart out with live hosted singing sessions hosted by karaoke people Lucky Voice and then sit down and watch Maverick in all his finery, armed with some of the  best street food London has to offer. The venue is pretty special, too. The grade I listed Geffrye Museum in Hoxton really is like something from a time warp so should do a good job at transporting you back to 1986. Tickets are on sale now and seeing as it’s so soon, I feel the need, the need for speed.

Experience Cinema’s Top Gun Weekender, Friday 13th and Saturday 14th May at the Geffrye Museum, Hoxton
