The urban take on afternoon tea consists of crisp white linen, polished silver cutlery and the finest bone china – you almost feel as if you’re living a moment in history but modern touches bring you straight back to the city. Whilst it possesses all the ritual as we know it, afternoon tea in the countryside is a little more rustic – antique printed linen, mismatched cups and saucers and a single freshly cut rose sitting in a little vase on the table. Iconic British homeware brand, Cabbages & Roses are bringing a touch of rural chic to The Montagu at Hyatt Regency with their take on the classic afternoon tea.
Inspired by Winston Churchill’s family home in Chartwell, in particular the gorgeous rose garden which was designed by close family friend Venetia Montagu (see the relevance?!), the tea has floral touches galore. In addition to sophisticated savoury selections like smoked salmon macaroons and a chilled cucumber foam, offerings include a Champagne and nettle jelly, rose and white chocolate macaroon and a biscuit decorated to resemble a classic Cabbages & Roses print. Add in a glass of rosé Champagne (or Bramble Royale cocktail) and we can’t think of a better reason to stop and smell the roses.
Cabbages & Roses Afternoon Tea at Hyatt Regency, served Monday – Friday 1pm-5.30pm and weekends 3.30pm-5.30pm
