If there’s one thing all Brits love to do – it’s drink. Whether that be a gin and tonic in the middle of a cramped club floor or a spot of tea on Sunday afternoon, it’s undeniable that our weekends (and admit it, weekdays) are brimming with liquid delights. And thanks to London’s most beloved flatmates at The Little Yellow Door, we don’t have to decide whether we want to revel in one love versus the other.
The friends will be throwing open their yellow door on Saturday afternoons to host a Notting Hill cocktail tea party, complete with quirky alcohol infused pots of tea, finger sandwiches and a variety of traditionally British board games. Guests will be greeted by a bohemian host before stepping into the curious gastronomic interior and sipping on outlandishly named teas such as ‘Tea with Mussolini’ (Bacardi Blanca rum infused chamomile tea with pomegranate and blueberries), ‘Bugsy Malone’ (a vodka teapot infused with strawberries and cream, ginger and pineapple) or ’50 Shades of Grey’ (a gin and Earl Grey teapot with ginger, lemon and lychee).
As for the food, guests can expect to tuck into a selection of finger sandwiches such as smoked salmon with cream cheese, salted cucumber and dill or steak with caramelised onions, rocket and truffle. To wrap up, chocolate brownies with malt cream will be presented along with the classic scones with clotted cream and jam.
So there you have it. All of Britain’s loves located quaintly behind one little yellow door.
Notting Hill Cocktail Tea Party takes place every Saturday from 3pm to 7pm at 68 Notting Hill Gate, W11 3HT
