Question: What do bacon and tomato ketchup, roast chicken and mayonnaise and sausage and brown sauce have in common? Yes they are all sandwich fillings but that’s not the answer we’re looking for. Answer: They are all whacky and wonderful new flavours of Walkers crisps. A bit less whacky than the cajun squirrel and chilli and chocolate we have seen in the past but no fewer points awarded for inventiveness, the crisps have been created with Heinz, hence the sauces in each flavour. Who doesn’t love a condiment?
It wouldn’t be very Handbook of us to just tell you about a new range of crisps so obviously there’s more to it: Walkers is taking their new sandwich flavour crisps to the streets of London, with a sarnie club setting up shop behind a newsagent in London Bridge. Speakeasy in style, the Walkers Crisp Sarnie Club is an immersive experience allowing crisp lovers to build their own crisp sarnie – what better than a cheese toasties stuffed with ham and mustard crisps? Enter through the cleverly disguised ‘Chris Peter’s News’ on Tooley Street with a secret password – something equally as witty, we’re sure – and enter a wonderful world of crisps. As well as your DIY sandwich (made from a selection of breads, fillings and the limited edition crisps), visitors will get a drink to wash it all down with and supposed ‘sarnie-themed antics, sights and sounds’. Intriguing.
The Walkers Crisp Sarnie Club opens on the 8th September, Thursday – Saturday. Tickets are £3, available online and on the door, first come first served. The 15-minute slots run between midday-2pm and 5-7.50pm on Thursday and Friday. Saturday sessions are available to be booked between midday-4.50pm. 18+ only.
