Living in London it is easy to overlook just how lucky we are. From the universally-known Royal Parks to some of the biggest sporting events in the world to the diverse food, we have some of the best of the best at our fingertips. So it’s not surprising that we tend to be a little picky with how we spend our time, and even more importantly, what we eat. That’s why today we’re giving you one of the absolute best food joints in the world of pop-ups… number six, to be exact.
Starting now until the end of the year, the luxury, bespoke catering company Cuisson will be taking over two floors of 1 Cathedral Street to bring the interactive dining concept of POPdown. Established last April, it took the pop-up only four months to receive international prestige as the sixth best pop-up in the world. Basically, you can’t miss out on this.
POPdown is bringing guests a seasonal Asian style, five-course tasting menu inspired by Borough Market traders and their produce. Dishes to choose from include tuna tataki, ginger and soy marinated grilled pork loin and satsuma custard sesame and citrus salad. Diners will also have the opportunity to choose from a list of carefully selected wines and cocktails to compliment the experience. The Ikigai bar is located on the ground floor and is serving up craft beers, wines and bespoke cocktails alongside bar snacks and small dishes like teriyaki chicken wings, beef sashimi and tempura oysters.
For those looking for a more intimate dining experience, a private room is available for up to 20 guests. POPdown will also host exclusive events, such as an oyster cooking masterclass and an Asian beer tasting evening that Cuisson will be jointly hosting with the market traders, so make sure to POPdown!
Cuisson’s POPdown will take place from 21st July until the end of the year. The 5 course tasting menu will be served Tuesday to Saturday. Ikigai will initially be open in the evenings from 5:30 – 11:30pm, Tuesday to Saturday and then open for lunch from mid-August.
