We’re still all coming to terms with the fact that this Wednesday will see the last ever Great British Bake Off as we know it. Bye bye Mel and Sue and their eye-rollingly punny jokes. Bye bye Mary and her use of the word ‘scrumptious’ (no one else actually says scrumptious) and bye bye Paul… Oh wait, he’s jumping ship too.
The ubiquitous BBC phenomena comes to its end on Wednesday and the event must be celebrated appropriately, so it has to be grand… literally. The Grand will once again be setting up its giant screen so all Bake Off fanatics can share in the joy this years master baker. Will Candice and her bold lipstick lift the trophy, will Jane manage to hold back the tears, or will Andrew’s consistency earn him the title of the last ever Great British Bake Off champion?
Us viewers though have had it easy for the past couple of months, not having to lift a finger except to turn up the volume when things get tense, offering up disparaging and quite frankly detrimental critique to the bakers buns and sponges. Well now it’s our turn to put our baking skills to the test. Turn up with a cake to The Grand on Wednesday evening and you’ll gain free entry. Thought that might change your tune but be prepared to have your cake judged…
As well as the screening and competition there will also be The Grand Famous Photo Booth, cameo appearances from past bakers, Paul Hollywood judging face masks, a soggy bottom competition and afterparty with Oops Up Side Your Bread DJ’s.
Bakers, you have 2 days left!
The Grand British Bake Off will take place at The Grand On Wednesday 26th October.
