Last year Andy Taylor and Tim Talbot served burgers to 10,000 guests in five weeks. This year they sold 600 Le Mac burgers on National Burger Day alone. Of course they could though, they’re Le Bun and they’re Le Back in Dalston.
Following on from a summer pop-up with Kelis, the guys are setting up shop at Birthdays in Dalston for a residency that will run until 29th January next year.
New dishes include mind-blowingly Nashville-style hot chicken hots made with cayenne pepper-seasoned fried chicken. Apparently they were first created in a revenge by a wife who found out her husband was cheating…although that said it back fired when he ended up loving them…
If you’re after Le Bun classics then fear not you’ll still the Duck Frites Bun and Le Bourguignon Bun as well as Le Mac that legendary burger from National Burger Day. Made from two rare breed patties, black truffle burger sauce, smoked pickles, American cheese, truffle beurre noisette glaze and veal jus – it’s not for the faint hearted.
Sides will include chipotle and honey chicken skins, a pig check mac and cheese and come Christmas there’ll be a Christmas tree smoked deer bun (turkeys rejoice). Wash it all down with a Cheeseburger Bloody Mary which comes with, you guessed it a mini cheeseburger.
If you’re a vegetarian or vegan then you can still join in with a charred fennel, shallot, beetroot dish served with sour-dough or a baguette but you know what, we reckon you leave Le Bun to the meat eaters.
Launching on Thursday, the first 250 people through the door (it opens at 5pm so book a “meeting” at 4:30pm and head to Dalston pronto) vouchers for a free truffle burger and drink! Hurrah!
Le Bun will be open at Birthdays, Dalston 13th October 2016- 29th January 2017 (closed 23rd-30th December)
