If you’re even vaguely interested in food and drink you’ll know that last week saw the announcement of the 2017 batch of Michelin stars. The ultimate mark of excellence for a restaurant, 8 precious stars were handed out to London restaurants including Trinity, The Ninth and The Ritz as well as a handful of Bib Gourmands awarded to restaurants at lower price points offering a more casual dining experience. Still, we can’t help thinking that some of our favourites will never achieve Michelin status… until now.

Gelupo, the gelateria in Soho from the duo behind Bocca di Lupo, is already pretty damn good but it’s about to get even better as it gets the Michelin touch. 7 of the world’s best chefs, from Michel Roux to Fergus Henderson, have collaborated with Gelupo to create their own signature limited-edition gelato flavour which will be available by the scoop from Gelupo Archer Street as well as from Vico in Cambridge Circus, which has just been granted Bib Gourmand status. The flavours reflect the trademark style of each chef and the type of cuisine their restaurants are known for so think rice pudding and plum eau de vivre from Michel Roux at Le Gavroche, green cardamom and rose water from Atul Kochhar at Benares and Cuban tobacco and dark rum from Pierre Koffmann at Hoffmann’s. Bet you never thought you’d scoop up Michel Roux’s Michelin stars…

The Michelin-starred gelato menu is available from Gelupo Archer Street and Vico Cambridge Circus
