This year, Cottons Caribbean Restaurant and Salon de Rhum have earned themselves a coveted Guinness World Record…for the bar with the most varieties of rum commercially available.
They’ve got a total of 372 rums behind the bar, but maybe don’t try them all at once! The rums themselves have been sourced from all over the world; there are well known brands as well as rarer, small batch rums, like the Nepalese Khukri. Some of the rums may not be so pleasing for the bank account but you won’t be able to find them anywhere else so we’d say it’s worth a try…
In celebration of their award, the restaurant have devised a limited edition rum menu. To start, king prawns marinated in St Aubin spiced rum, to follow, a rack of lamb marinated with Brinley Gold coffee rum and molasses. Puddings on offer include a Caribbean trifle with Barbancourt 8 year old rum-soaked fruits and Koko Kanu crème. To accompany all this will be a specially created Record Breaker cocktail.
Learn the tricks of the trade at Cottons’ newly launched Cocktail Training School, with monthly sessions which include an introduction to cocktail making plus a week’s live training at any of Cottons’ rhum shacks. For those just wanting to impress with their rum knowledge, there’s an introductory course, which includes a history lesson, a rum tasting and a chance to make classic cocktails.
The rum menu is available at Cottons’ Notting Hill and the Record Breaker cocktail is available at all Cottons’ branches until 16th December
