“Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…”
This Christmas, sketch has employed some of London’s favourite local florists, transforming the already magnificently-designed venue into a Christmas wonderland. Titled ‘The Night Before Christmas’, visitors will be invited to make their way through the eclectic venue passing through individual installations each representing a chapter of the much-loved Christmas tale.
Florist Carly Rogers, following her success at the Mayfair Flower Show, has returned to create the ‘Hollow Way’ – upon entering, guests will make their way through the forest-inspired installation, immersing themselves in a literary wonderland. Taking this inspiration further, Rogers has carpeted the East Bar and famous pod loos with snow-covered shrubs, giving you even more reason to photograph them. The ensemble is named ‘Let it Snow’ and, even if indoors only, we’ll take snow wherever we can get it.
After this, guests should head for a drink or perhaps some afternoon tea at the enchanted woodland bar ‘The Glade’, where guests will be immersed into ‘The Faraway Tree’. Created by bespoke florist JamJar, started by i-D magazine designer Jocelyn Lloyd and former Take 2 models director Melissa Richardson, a festive touch has been put on the already whimsically decorated woodland bar.
No Christmas is complete without a tree so sketch has had Tony Marklew of By Appointment Only Design to design them a bespoke tree, called ‘Follow The Star’ to furnish the two Michelin-starred Lecture Room and Library which will be serving up alternatives to the traditional Christmas menus.
The art and installations will be brought to life by the live choirs and carollers performing throughout the venue. Sounds much better than the grey winter London otherwise offers…
The Night Before Christmas at sketch is taking place 13th November-6th January
