Last year they brought you the chocolate festival, but this year East Village are going bigger and better with…drum roll please…a cheese and wine festival – and it’s free.
On the first weekend of April (we promise, this isn’t an April fools joke), East Village will be getting one big alcoholic, cheesy makeover! Bringing you a festival showcasing the very best in artisan cheese and wine from over 25 independent retailers.
Any cheese connoisseur will be impressed by what’s on offer, from fine Italian gourmet truffle cheese from Lombary Gourmet to traditional farm and dairy treats from Jacob’s Ladder. That’s not all; street food stalls will be pilled high with, well, everything including juicy cheeseburgers, bubbling cheesy churros and a skier’s stable dish of raclette. For dessert, visitors can expect to indulge in treats from luxury chocolate brands The Cocoa Lab, Zara’s Chocolate, Paul Wayne Gregory and Sir Hans Sloane.
And, as we all know, cheese and wine are a match made in heaven. Find your perfect bubbles by Grays and Feather as they showcase their sparkling wine, or try out ethical handcrafted wine by DVine Wines. Alternatively, state-of-the-art craft brewery Meantime Brewery will on hand to provide a selection of beer and cider to all those who don’t do wine. There is also the option of attending workshops if you feel like expanding your knowledge on all things cheese and wine…whether you remember it all the following morning after a day of indulging is another story.
The Cheese and Wine Festival will run from 1st to 2nd April in Victory Park, East Village, entry is free but you will need to pay for the cheese and wine.
