A Michelin Basque Brunch Comes to Covent Garden

Brunch: possibly our favourite meal ever. Great for all occasions, from boozy gatherings to a hearty meal after a particularly heavy night, we’re sure you’ll agree everything is better with a side of fluffy pancakes and eggs benny. Right? Wrong. Three Michelin-starred chef Eneko Atxa has forgone all these brunch staples to create an entirely new menu at Eneko at One Aldwych, bringing a taste of the Basque-country to Covent Garden.

Eneko at One Aldwych offers a variety of culinary styles, from Euskal Azoka (street food), to Txoko (classics) and Asador (grill). Txistorra, a spiced Basque sausage cooked in cider with soft corn talo, and street food favourite is included on the menu, as are charcoal-style grills such as duck breast with Gernika peppers, yellowfin tuna with garden leaf salad, and Rhug Estate rib eye steak.

For those who have separation anxiety from their eggs benedict, Eneko has dedicated a whole section to eggs (entitled Gallinero), which feature signature dishes of scrambled eggs, sautéed potatoes and jamon; as well as Arraultzak, a rustic dish of fried eggs, wild asparagus, flour crisp and mashed potato.

Fans of a boozy brunch will be delighted to discover Eneko’s choice of aperitvos, from the interesting Pacharan; a blend of coconut rum and coffee, to an updated version of the classic Bloody Mary using spiced-infused vodka, golden tomato juice and celery foam. This is accompanied by an extensive wine list populated entirely by Spanish bottles. If you are still missing the sweet comfort of maple syrup pancakes, the classic Torrija vanilla sponge will certainly hit the spot. Displaying the true hospitality of the Basque-country, Eneko at One welcome each diner to a complimentary glass of cava. Now that’s what we call brunch.
