Battersea Power Station Unveils Its Eagerly Awaited New Venues

Battersea Power Station Unveils Its Eagerly Awaited New Venues

Let’s play a game. No11, No32, No1, No197, what comes next? The answer is No29. No29 Battersea Power Station to be precise, in other words the next venue from neighbourhood pub group, Darwin and Wallace, who is adding to their portfolio which includes No32 The Old Town and No197 Chiswick Fire Station. Just one of the many independent venues chosen to open in London’s newest ‘riverside village’ aka Battersea Power Station’s Circus West Village, No29 will join a stellar lineup of bars, cafes and restaurants set to open in Summer 2017.

Circus West Village is the first destination to open within Battersea Power Station and, because it’s the foodie bit, we love it already. The £9 million transformation of the power station itself and the surrounding area is about to make SW11 a go-to destination much like Kings Cross’ Granary Square and NOVA Victoria have become. Many of the names announced will be familiar, with most of them established elsewhere in London already. Vagabond will bring their self-dispensing wine machines which currently solve date night dilemmas in Clapham, Shoreditch, Fulham and Fitzrovia as well as a new wine-friendly food menu. Ben’s Canteen is adding to their South West London repertoire, serving up one of London’s best brunches, epic burgers and good wines, currently available in Earlsfield and St John’s Hill. The General Store will solve residents grocery shopping dilemmas and are no stranger to the area – their first store opened in Chelsea Bridge Wharf back in 2008. Bread will comes from Hoxton’s Flour Power City Bakery and coffee from the award-winning, family-run CoffeeWorks Project.

Pedler is coming over from Peckham, offering cocktails, artisan wines, craft beers and seasonal sharing plates, whilst The Wright Brothers is adding a civilised touch with shellfish and seafood, fresh from their wholesale business in Borough Market. Soho’s Ducksoup and London Fields’ Rawduck is getting a new sibling in the form of Duckroad, and gin lovers can breathe a sigh of relief as The London Distillery Company set up a distillery for their award-winning organic gin, complete with tastings and cocktails.

Not all venues are quite so local – Copenhagen pizza place, Mother, will open its first international outpost here. Widely considered Denmark’s best pizza restaurant, our expectations are high.

We may not be able to afford a million pound two-bed apartment, but that won’t stop us living at Circus West Village.

The new venues at Circus West Village will open at various times from Summer 2017
