We’re a tea-loving nation, there’s no denying that and according to recent chocolate consumption statistics, we seem to also be a chocolate loving nation too. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before someone created an afternoon tea made entirely of chocolate, right? Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill has done just that, the hotel has worked closely with Sir Winston Churchill’s family to redesign the hotel for it’s reopening and with chocolate being Sir Winston Churchill’s favourite dessert, it felt like a no-brainer to make a chocoholics’ afternoon tea dream come true. Let’s just call this heaven on earth for any chocoholic…even the savoury nibbles have chocolate in all thanks to Green & Black, who are celebrating their 25th birthday.
To begin, think smoked salmon sushi sandwich garnished with white chocolate flakes, a mini burger with BBQ sauce infused with Green and Black’s 70% dark chocolate, venison and milk chocolate pâté with fresh raspberry, aubergine mousse éclair dusted with cocoa powder. Not enough for you? How about the British staple of a Coronation chicken sandwich on…chocolate bread?
Next, we move onto everyone’s favourite part, the sweet stuff. Refresh your palate with a lime sorbet with a ginger chocolate dipped cone before a passion fruit and white chocolate macaroon stack; a luxurious dark chocolate cupcake with salted chocolate DIY garnish; a butterscotch tea cake with gold leaf garnish and a raspberry and dark chocolate layered mousse.
To wash down all that chocolate (we know, there’s a lot), a Maya gold cocoa nib tea (infused with orange, cinnamon and nutmeg) will be hand. For all those that enjoy something a little stronger, Sir Winston’s Martini (twist on the classic with 85% dark chocolate) will certainly put a smile on your face.
