The Handbook
The Handbook

“What did you get up to last night?” An appropriate question post-Friday or Saturday night, but at the coffee machine on a Wednesday morning perhaps not so much. Until now. Borough Market are about to give you more than just a Saturday stroll round the cheese stalls to tell your friends about.

Kicking off on Tuesday 4th April, a new series of Borough Talks will see some of the biggest names in the foodie industry come together to discuss and explore key issues currently being faced by the food industry – everything from sustainability to cooking with children.

The iconic venue means iconic backdrop, with the talks taking place in Three Crown Square, under the Victorian glass and iron roof. The debates themselves will vary in topic, with each session covering something completely different such as ‘How the media can help your food business’, discussed by social media influencer Thoroughly Modern Milly (Camille Kenny Ryder), former Head of Features at the BBC, Pete Lawrence, and Alana Spencer, 2016 Apprentice winner and founder of Ridiculously Rich by Anna. Another good one looks to be July’s; ‘How to join the drinks revolution’. Gin is still having a moment but what will be next? International drinks creator Tony Conigliaro (of Untitled) will place his bets along with writer and broadcaster Dave Broom, Master of Wine Catriona Felstead, Sybil Kapoor and Dan Tapper. If you want to have your say you certainly can – the floor will be opened up to questions at the end – and if all this talk of food makes you hungry you’ll be pleased to know that a spread of food and drink will be put on for each talk, cleverly designed to match the topic of discussion.

Food for thought? Sign us up.

Borough Talks are taking place 7-9pm 4th April, 16th May, 13th June, 11th July and 12th September at Borough Market’s Three Crown Square, click dates for tickets
