Ok, enough with the bodily functions. The UK’s favourite tinned beans (or should we say the UK’s only tinned beans?) are this year celebrating 50 years since the slogan ‘Beanz Meanz Heinz’ was first penned – a little saying that has become iconic on those bluey/green cans of joy.
Two million people a day enjoy Heinz beans and a can is sold in the UK every 17 seconds so it’s fitting that the occasion is being celebrated at one of the UKs most iconic department stores. Heinz are launching a pop-up bar in the Selfridges Foodhall from the end of March for four magical weeks, serving up three takes on the classic dish; Beanz with crispy bacon, Beanz with scrambled egg and Beanz with smoked ham hock.
In addition to the hot meals, Beanz fanz can purchase a limited edition can, emblazoned with one of fifty different phrases – everything from Beanz Meanz Spudz to Beanz Meanz Studentz. Die-hard fanz can go one step further and show their love by getting their handz on one of fifty collectable canz (OK, we’ll stop with the z’s now) personally signed by Maurice Drake, aka the legend who came up with the slogan all those years ago. The cans will be available from Wednesday 5th April in the Selfridges London Foodhall as well as online, and all proceeds will be donated to The Ideas Foundation, who nurture creative talent in 13-19 year olds.

The Beanz Meanz Heinz pop-up bar at Selfridges Foodhall is open from 27th March – 23rd April. The limited edition signed cans will be available from Wednesday 5th April online and in store.
