Ice cream; we’re all good at eating it but what if we asked you what the difference is between ice cream and gelato? Don’t worry we’re stumped too. Thankfully, the Gelato Festival has all of the answers (and desserts) for us. Now the sun is officially out, we’re going to celebrate in true British form and not hold back. The Gelato Festival is back for the 3rd year running at Old Spitalfeild’s Market for 2 delicious days between 16th-18th June.
Now onto the more important stuff – what you’ll be eating. To save our over-excitement, the exact flavours have been kept top secret until the beginning of the event. But they can tell us that 16 of the best Gelato Artisans will be attending, so you can expect things as big as your waistline by the end of the weekend! The aim of the weekend is to decide two special flavours that will be finalised in crowning the European Gelato Champion. The organisers have named it ‘Eurovision, but for the taste buds’, which pretty much combines two of our favourite things. The festival has already appeared in Italy and then will be heading to Poland and Germany after London before naming the winner in September. Of course, they won’t be able to choose from all of these flavours without your help. You’ll be asked to vote for your favourite flavour to whittle it down to just two; some say it will be the most important vote you cast in June.
The second day of the event falls on Father’s Day, so it will be the perfect way to treat Dad (and yourself).
