London is in bloom. You only have to spend a few minutes scrolling down your Instagram feed to be bombarded with photos of wisteria-clad townhouses in Kensington, and blossom explosions in Chelsea.
Blossom isn’t only being reserved for the great outdoors either, with popular destinations ROKA and Dalloway Terrace bringing the outside in, with pink floral installations this Spring. Top restaurant group, D&D London, are championing the flower once again, with the return of their #BlossomCity17 campaign which will see a whole host of flower-inspired installations, menus and events from Tuesday 2nd May until the end of June.
Chelsea favourite, Bluebird, is leading the way as it celebrates #BlossomCity alongside celebrations for its 20 year anniversary. Fragrance legend Jo Malone has teamed up with Head Bartender, Egzon Kastrati, to create a cocktail menu inspired by Jo Loves scents and Jo’s personal memories. We like the sound of The Pomelo, named after the signature Jo Loves fragrance, the cocktail promises to conjure up memories of summer holidays, white sandy beaches and crisp linen sheets thanks to grapefruit, lemon, lime lead, Tanqueray gin and hibiscus Chelsea Flower Show has inspired a Bluebird in Bloom afternoon tea, with Maître Choux creating bespoke violet and berry eclairs especially for the occasion.
Over in the City you’ll find gluten and soy free plant-based dishes at Coq d’Argent, with a pop-up martini bar and meringue masterclasses hosted by Insta-faves, Meringue Girls, at Quaglino’s. Aster, Angler, German Gymnasium and Quaglino’s will be bursting with fresh flowers both as installations and also with specially designed menus featuring the odd flower petal and floral ingredient. Finally, if you prefer your botany in alcoholic form, you’ll want to head to the bar of each venue, for flowery cocktails, wine, and picture perfect garnishes. Le Pont de la Tour, in particular, will be serving elderflower-based cocktails as they have teamed up with St Germain liqueur for their St Germain Jardin.
As if all this didn’t sound good enough, D&D London will be raising money for two amazing charities for the duration of #BlossomCity17; The Gynaecological Cancer Fund and The Lady Garden Campaign, with £1 from every bill automatically donated.
