We’re big fans of recycling and upcycling, especially when it involves turning old carparks into new rooftop bars. No need to build a new bar when you already have the space in the heart of East London – this isn’t just some idea that we’re suggesting, this is actually happening as Skylight opens next Thursday at Tobacco Dock.
The theme for this up and coming bar will be centred on the idea of a quintessentially British garden party with an urban twist. Edgy. With space for 600 Londoners over three levels, this new hotspot is fitted with numerous bars, croquet lawns, petanque courts and street food stalls. If this wasn’t enough to entertain those rare hot British days, Skylight shows off some of the best views of the city. Situated between Shoreditch and Peckham whilst brushing shoulders with Canary Wharf and The City, Skylight simultaneously, proudly displays the best that London has to offer with unobstructed views of The Shard, The Gherkin and The Walkie Talkie.
You’re going to find some of London’s top street vendors all situated under one roof (or, rather, car park). East London’s very own burger genius’ We Serve Humans will be serving up their celebrated Chairman burger whilst Greek street food vendors, Yiro, will be serving their speciality, souvlaki, too. Appetites will have to be hard-earned, with a variety of outdoor and indoor games (for when the heavens inevitably open) across different levels of the setting. This includes two petanque courts, lawn bowls and three croquet lawns.
Last, but certainly not least, Skylight will, of course, be serving up an array of drinks that define British summer. A selection of refreshing cocktails and pitchers will happily accompany spritzes and bubbles by the glass or bottle, while ice-cold ciders and beers will be available to quench every possible thirst. Once the croquet bats are packed away, the raised Blue Moon bar and lounge sky terrace is the place to relax and watch the sun set over London.
Skylight opens on the 25th May and will be open Thursday – Sunday throughout Summer

A bit of a cake connoisseur, Editor, Emily is constantly on the search for the best brownie London has to offer, a restaurant once even put them on the menu when they heard she was visiting… You’ll either find her on a night out or debriefing over brunch the next day with plenty of coffee and eggs.
