When éclair brand Maitre Choux and tea specialists Lalani & Co. come together to create the perfect Chelsea-style afternoon tea, you can expect great things. The unique dining experience will be available at Blakes hotel from 9th June and they’ve got the perfect pairings that will make you wonder why they didn’t come up with this idea sooner.
Lalani & Co have been hard at work with three Michelin-star pastry Chef Joakim Prat from Maitre Choux’s Kensington residence to match the right tea with the right pastry. It’s no easy feat let us assure you.
There will be four pairings to choose from, each complimenting each other perfectly. Like the Himalayan Black Summer with a hint of chocolate and caramel that will be paired with a coffee-flavoured éclair, or the Spanish raspberry éclair with apricot and peach tea from Nepal. There will also be the gold leaf buds tea matched with a gold-dusted hazelnut and milk chocolate treat as well as the rare Kyoto Oolong tea from Japan with a salted butter and homemade caramel éclair. A glass of prosecco or Champagne can also be added to complete the indulgence. All this to be enjoyed in Blakes’ newly launched Courtyard, designed by pattern king, Matthew Williamson – think bright geometric walls, chintzy floral chairs and life-sized zebras. Tea time has never been so chic.
Afternoon Tea is served in the restaurant and on the courtyard 12pm – 6pm.
