As Londoners, our lives are pretty hectic, constantly on the go, getting up early to hit the gym or beat the commute and spending our evenings at the latest pop-ups/plays or just at the pub. It’s no wonder that we often feel like we’re running on auto pilot and one coffee away from crying. What can you do? Obviously, we’re not going to be leaving London any time soon, but we can make the most of mindfulness and learning how to achieve more balance in life, including not burning the candle at both ends.
Just as well then, that The Shard’s hotel, Shangri-La has launched a new wellness programme ‘Find Your Shangri-La’. Why? Because it’s namesake, the mythical Shangri-La described in James Hilton’s 1933 novel ‘Lost Horizon’ is a sanctuary of serenity and happiness. The wellness programme includes in-room workout videos, an early morning running club and a healthy menu of smoothies, nutrient-dense dishes and energy balls. Throughout June, July and August they’ll be hosting sunset yoga with Jessica Skye, founder of Fat Buddha Yoga; mindfulness workshops with Michael James Wong; LA celebrity favourite Simone De La Rue of Body by Simone will be hosting energising dance workouts and Lauren Armes, Founder of Welltodo will moderate a series of talks and Q & As with pioneers from the world of fitness, clean beauty and nutrition.
