Can you hear it? It’s the sound of a new afternoon tea arriving in London and this time it is coming all the way from Tarbert – a small Hebridean village. Having come all that way, we need to give it a warm arrival and try it out. Obviously.

Launching on the 10th June, at The Soho Hotel, the G & Tea afternoon tea makes revolves around Isle of Harris Gin, which is distilled, bottled and labelled by hand in Tarbert. It also plays on the island’s connection with the sea and its produce. As well as traditional scones and sandwiches, you’ll find seaweed and Cheddar scones and gin botanicals-cured salmon with cucumber and lime. All of the cakes and pastries also make use of the nine botanicals found in the gin; there are black pepper and vanilla macarons, a gooseberry and elderflower fool, a ruby grapefruit drizzle cake and green cardamom, coriander and custard tarts. Of course, you can’t have a G & Tea without actually having the gin, so the bartenders will be whisky up a fresh Isle of Harris Gin cocktail from the Soho G & T trolley.

You know the drill; Romeo and Juliet, Kim and Kanye, fish and chips, gin and tea…
