Music Matters at Selfridges

Whilst festivals might be more popular than ever, it seems as if music venues are not. Apparently, it’s estimated that 40% of London’s music venues have closed, but there’s a saviour insight. Not who you might think, because it’s Selfridges…

Music Matters at Selfridges will be a three- month campaign across all its stores in London, Manchester and Birmingham and online, to showcase musical talent. Here in London, Selfridges will host the Ultralounge, a live music venue and state of the art visual content studio and interactive platform, which is the brainchild of TEM (The Experience Machine) whose work includes designing innovative experience of Jay Z, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga. And guess who they’ve got opening and closing Music Matters at Selfridges? Only, Skepta and A$AP Rocky, nice one.

Throughout the campaign Selfridges will be hosting a programme of ‘New Music Nights’ and ‘Selfridges Present’s. Head to a New Music Night and you’ll hear the likes of Nova Twins, MAAD and Majik, or go to Selfridges Presents to hear Joe Goddard, Raye and Last Night in Paris. Other events will include classical, acoustic and DJ performances; a curated collection of nostalgic music merch, a RYE WAX record store on the menswear floor on Oxford Street; a partnership with Yang Li for his Japanoise passion project with his band and merch outfit SAMIZDAT, as well as special events with Bold Tendencies.

Music Matters at Selfridges will be taking place from the 20th July – 18th October 2017.
