Steins at the ready, it’s nearly Oktoberfest again! This year German Gymnasium will be donning their best lederhosen and dirndls down at King’s Cross to bring a bit of the fun over from Munich with a celebration taking place on the restaurant’s al fresco terrace for most of September. With beer shipped straight in from the Black Forest by the Rothaus Brewery, guests will be able to enjoy the naturally unpasteurised, high quality beers, served in traditional steins.
The Oktoberfest menu, served on wooden tables and benches that echo those in the famous tents being erected right now on Munich’s Theresienwiese, will comprise of a selection of German delicacies. From The German sausage trio of schinkenknacker, bratwurst and currywurst or the Mini Schweinshaxen – mini pork knuckles with a sour cream dip – to the Oktoberfest cold cut platter consiting of a selection of Black Forest ham, Bierbeisser, Gruyere cheese and pickles all the teutonic food groups are represented. And, of course, there’ll also be currywurst and German pretzels galore.
Plenty of sausages, washed down with fantastic beer, accompanied by an oompha band? What’s the wurst that could happen?
