Too Gouda be true? Cheese Festival comes to Islington!

When we imagine heaven, it features cheese. We can’t prove if there is a cheese heaven, but we can tell you that London’s premier cheese festival, Cheese Street N1, is hitting Islington’s Chapel Market, it’s pretty much as good as it’s going to get. Promising to feature all manner of cheesy British delicacies, Cheese Street will welcome the best of local and sustainable food traders for a pop-up day festival on both the 24th of September and the 1st of October.

As part of the London Farmers Market phenomenon which has taken over the capital (they now run 22 weekly markets!) Cheese Street will be in keeping with their ethos, supporting local and regional cheese makers and mongers in their craft, and getting the tastiest products straight to you from the source – because who really wants to spend their Sunday morning fighting through their local supermarket? The festival will welcome the likes of award-winning cheese stars La Fromagerie, Kupros Dairy, Quickes Dairy, Blackwoods Cheese and Wildes Cheese, amongst many others, to show off their wares and give you the opportunity to discover your new favourite.

The day will be filled with tastings, masterclasses and talks with artisans – including a chance to meet the sensations of London street-food. Those such as the Raclette Brothers, Mac to the Future, Grill My Cheese, The Cheese Truck and The Poutinerie will all be making an appearance and getting you hooked on the dairy delights that have been popping up across London.

We’d recommend getting yourself down early – the festival opens from 10 am, with the real fromage fanatics welcome to begin the day with breakfast at The Joker pub. Plus, to see you through the afternoon, London Farmers Market have joined Black Cow Vodka for a collaboration like no other – the world’s first pure milk vodka, with complimentary bottles available to the first 50 guests. The Joker will be offering a whole host of dairy inspired cocktails curated especially for the event, made with Black Cow’s new spirit.

So if your Sundays are feeling a little Blue, get yourself down to Chapel Market Junction. Expect cheese angels wandering with endless Edam tasters, cheesy music and entertainment and even the amazing opportunity to win the ultimate cheese tower from Wildes Cheese – you Feta believe it!

Cheese Street N1: 10am-3pm Sunday 24th September & Sunday 1st October 2017, Chapel Market Islington N1 9PZ
