If ‘shake it ’til you make it’ is the mantra for your life then the arrival of London Cocktail Week will certainly get you into the spirit.
Call us Old Fashioned but this is a Mai Tai great event. Hosted by DrinkUp.London, the folks behind London Beer Week and Wine Week, the now 8th annual event encompases 250 bars, restaurants and popups accross the capital betweeen 2nd and 8th October. The evenings may be getting Dark & Stormy, but inside some of the city’s best hangouts London Cocktail Week promises to be both Cosmopolitan and Fizz-ing. The fun will centre on The Cocktail Village, set in Old Spitalfields Market and it will be a maze of popups with bars in trucks, bars in vans and even, somehow, bars on bicycles… Bloody Mary!
Highlights will include The Patrón Cocktail Lab, a collection of cocktails curated by international bartenders from the World’s Best Bars, held at the Cocktail Village. Or why not check out The Blend, which will be held by Chivas Regal allowing you to create your own whisky. Or, run the Gimlet of a distillers Jon Dewar & Sons collaboration with The Scotch Egg Club Emporium, curating a scotch egG and Top blended Scotch pairing event! Other highlights include the Tanqueray no. TEN aqua shard Terrace, which will bring a little bit of elegance to of The Shard to Spitalfields…just without the same views; the Ketel One Vodka Kitchen where you can sip on Espresso Martinis from draft and the Bulleit Bourbon ‘Woody’ where Bulleit Brand Ambassador, Jenna Ba will be hosting hands-on masterclasses throughout the week.
Points mean prizes and at The Fever-Tree Escape Room, the team that escapes the fastest will win a whisky tour in Scotland. Launching on Tuesday, the sensory exploration gives an exclusive look into the brand new mixers from Fever-Tree which are designed to go with the finest dark spirits – they aren’t just about G&Ts.
If you want luxury vodka to be the order of the day then make sure you visit The Belvedere Single Estate Rooms where you’ll be transported into an enchanting natural world and introduced to two new 100% rye vodkas. Taking place on the Thursday and Friday, you’ll receive four cocktails (two of which you make yourself) and canapés.
Away from The Cocktail Village The Botanist, the first and only Islay dry gin, will be pairing with East London’s Sager + Wilde where Head Chef Chris Leach and Mixologist Marcis Dzelzainis will be combining forces in a drinking and dining extravaganza.
Not to be outdone, The Hippodrome’s Helliot Steak House will be working with 808 Whisky to create exclusive cocktails to celebrate the week, including Haunted House, Nelson’s Column and Ginger Ninja, the perfect accompaniment to steak.
With hundreds of events, specials, parties and tastings it’s going to be as much fun as Sex On The Beach, so there’s nothing to be Sour about.
London Cocktail Week will run from 2nd October unil 8th October
